War Thunder - XM-1 (C) and XM-1 (GM): Ancestors of the Abrams (Updated) 5/22/2018 Mods for fallout 4 steam. Two new and magnificent rank V tanks are coming to War Thunder! It’s a story of a competition between two companies – Chrysler and General Motors – in creating a new main battle tank for the American army, which would soon become known around the world as the M1 Abrams. In War Thunder, both tanks are very similar to each other. The XM-1 is a premium rank V tank with composite armor and side skirts. Though its armour is inferior to the armour of the M1 Abrams, it provides decent protection against any type of ammo at the top ranks. IN SHORT: premium rank V tanks, the closest relatives of the legendary Abrams – high survivability, excellent mobility, and a fine cannon. They speed up the research of any US tank between ranks I and VI, get you tons of Silver Lions, and are a lot of fun to play! The Kit Includes:
Please note: The other variant of the XM-1 (the one developed by Chrysler) is available only for Xbox One players. Devblog update: The XM-1 tank is already available for pre-order in our digital goods store. Note! Once update 1.79 is released and pre-orders end, the price of this pack will become 59.99 USD/EUR (depending on your currency). PlayStation 4 players will be able to purchase it at a reduced price during the first month after release of the pack in the PlayStation Store. The XM-1 (GM) version will be available to PC and PS4 users, and the XM-1 (C) version will be exclusive to Xbox One, a new platform for War Thunder. HistoryIt started in the early 1970s, at the height of the Cold War and the arms race. After the joint German-American project to create the MBT-70 main battle tank was closed, and the new all-American XM803 project was deemed an insufficient and too expensive response to the newest Soviet developments, the US Department of Defense developed a new list of requirements for the future American main battle tank. Two engineering giants joined the contest: the Chrysler and General Motors companies. Both contestants decided to use the developments for the MBT-70 and XM803 to design a new tank. Many corrections and additions were made to the tactical and technical requirements of the American government, first and foremost, on the defensive characteristics of the future main battle tank. The requirements for the tank’s armor and survivability increased, along with its maintainability in the field. In addition, the Arab-Israeli conflict showed that a modern tank must have the ability to effectively destroy armored targets at long distances, including with kinetic shells, and also have a sufficiently large complement of shells. In spite of the changes and additions to the technical specification, the contestants managed to achieve their goals, and by 1976, they presented their developments, the experimental prototypes of the XM-1 tank, for testing. Both vehicles were outwardly very similar, with practically identical dimensions. They were alike in their layouts and used the same 105 mm M68 rifled cannon. Both tanks turned out very well. Which prototype did the military choose, and why? The tank’s main armament consists of a 105 mm rifled M68 cannon, already familiar to our players from the top tanks M60 RISE and M1 Abrams. The XM-1 tanks carry 55 shots and have a decent range of shells to choose from: fin-stabilized armour piercing with discarding sabot (APFS-DS), non-rotating HEAT shells, and smoke shells.
The 1500-horsepower engine – a diesel engine on the XM-1 (GM) and gas-turbine on the XM-1 (C) – allows the tank to reach up to 75 km/h. The tank gets up to speed very quickly and is a pleasure to drive. The XM-1 (GM) version differs in its slightly higher maximum speed and hydraulic suspension, which gives the tank new opportunities in some combat situations. On the whole, the XM-1 is an excellent top-range tank in the US tech tree, and its premium status significantly boosts the research for any armored vehicle in the American tech tree between ranks I and VI, and brings excellent bonuses to Silver Lions. The XM-1 tank is available for pre-order in our digital goods store: the XM-1 (GM) version is available to PC and PS4 users, and the XM-1 (C) version will be exclusive to Xbox One, a new platform for War Thunder. War Thunder - XM803: The Second Chance 5/30/2018 Como acelerar mi pc. After the unsuccessful joint MBT-70 project, the American Congress approved funding for the development of a cheaper version of the MBT-70, called the XM803. Although it failed to save the concept of the MBT-70, fans of US ground vehicles can look forward to the introduction of the XM803 to the game with War Thunder’s upcoming update 1.79! In short: this prototype was based on developments in the MBT-70 project, sporting spaced armour, a 152mm cannon combined with launcher capabilities, firepower of both conventional and ATGM munitions, and an slightly less powerful engine. HistoryOnce it became apparent that the MBT-70 project was doomed to fail in the early ‘70s due to high costs and reliability issues, the U.S. Congress decided to cut their losses on the project by cancelling the MBT-70, and instead, diverted funding to the development of a new project called XM803. In War Thunder, the XM803 will make its way to the game as part of the upcoming update 1.79 as a brand new researchable MBT, available to all tankers at the sixth rank of the American ground forces tree. By inheriting many characteristics of his predecessor, players who have already unlocked and played the MBT-70 will unlikely find new surprises with the XM803. Nonetheless, that doesn’t mean that the XM803 doesn’t have its own set of unique attributes that differentiate it from the MBT-70. Download Wallpaper: 1280x1024 / 1920x1080 / 2560x1440 Interestingly: The main reason for the closure of the MBT-70 project was its incredibly high cost, with each individual unit coming in at the equivalent of about 7 million USD with modern conversion rates. The XM803 wasn’t able to save much in terms of budget - production costs were only about $100,000 less. As the general layout and design was mostly derived from the previous MBT-70, players can expect comparable protection and mobility levels from the XM803. However, although both the XM803 and the MBT-70 use the same engine, the former had its power output reduced by 100 horsepower, resulting in a total power output of 1250 hp. As a result of this, future commanders of the XM803 can still expect to reach top speeds of around 40 mph (64 km/h), but the time it will take to reach that top speed will be slightly slower than that of the MBT-70. In terms of firepower, the XM803 still retains the XM150 gun/launcher system as found on the MBT-70, firing identical ammunition choices. However, if you consider yourself a fan of the MBT-70’s roof-mounted 20mm cannon, then we’re afraid there’s some bad news ahead. As an additional measure to reduce the MBT-70’s complexity and production cost, engineers decided to remove the retractable 20mm roof-mounted cannon and replaced it with a simpler remote controlled .50 caliber turret above the commander’s cupola on the XM803. Be sure to take control of the final iteration of the MBT-70 design coming to War Thunder as part of the upcoming update 1.79. Until then, stay tuned to the news for the latest information on War Thunder’s next major update. At ease, tankers! The MBT-70 is a experimental tank was an American-West German joint project to develop a new main battle tank during the 1960s. This tank was built to in counter the new generation of the Warsaw Pact tanks by the Soviet Union. This tank was equipped with a number of advanced feature such as newly developed “kneeling” hydropneumatic suspension. Also the housing the entire crew in a large turret and was armed with a 152mm XM150 gun/launcher which could use conventional ammunition and the Shillelagh Missile for long range combat.
Design:
The design for this MBT was ahead of their time, with hydropneumatic suspension which allowed it for fast cross-country speeds. The MBT-70 was designed with a low silhouette, unlike the M60, but because of this the driver had to be moved to the turret. Both the American and German version had newly developed engines, the Americans had the Continental AVCR air-cooled V-12 diesel of 1,470 horsepower ( 1,100 kW). The Germans had used Daimler-Benz model but later moved to a MTU design of 1,500 horsepower.
Armament:
The armament for this vehicle was a stabilized XM150 152mm gun/launcher as discussed earlier. This longer barreled and improved varient of the XM-81 gun/launcher used in the M551 Sheridan and the M60A2 Starship. This can fire conventional rounds like High Explovise(HE), Anti-personnel. High Explosive Anti-Tank(HEAT), and Armor Piercing Fin-Stabilized Discarding Sabot(APFSDS), but also the Shillelagh Missile. This XM578 APFSDS was a newly developed tungsten alloy which was 97.5% tungsten. This new alloy had a density of 18.5 cm which as a big improvement from the older tungsten rounds. This new ammunition allowed the round to be “caseless” which means they had combustible casings. Secondary armament included a remote-controlled 20mm Rh 202 autocannon for use against aircraft and light armored vehicles. The MBT-70 contains 42 tank rounds, 6 Shillelagh missiles, 660 20x139mm cannon rounds and 2.700 7.62x51mm NATO machine gun rounds.
Protection:
MBT-70 was protected by newly developed type of spaced armor in the frontal area of the hull and turret. The armored contained an outer layer made of cold-rolled hardened steel and a softer inner steel layer which served as a spall liner with space between both. This offered better protection against HEAT and armored piercing warheads which were the strongest threat to the tank. The armor offered protection against 105mm APDS at a range of only 800 metres(2,600 ft). The MBT-70 low silhouette which could be lowered from 2.58 meters (8ft, 6in) to only 1.99 meters( 6ft 6in), this advantage would give this a better hull down position. The MBT-70 would be protected against neutron radiation with a 15 to 20 cm thick layer of polythene was installed around the compartment and also it protected from electromagnetic pulses and nuclear, biological and chemical weapons.
This tank had a too many problems while it was being tested. Some of these problems were the driver’s location, the main armament, problems with the ammunition, and much more. This tank was ahead of its time but it proved that it was too far ahead. The driver complained that they would be disoriented when the turret was moving but designers felt that the location of the cupola near the center of the rotation would eliminate this. The German 120mm gun proved excellent on their tank, but the American design would prove it had serious problems. The problems with the gun and ammunition had several problems and this was because the ammunition are too vulnerable to water which made them expand so it would not fit in the gun barrel or left hard residues after being fired. Combustible cases also cause the tank to be deformed by it and often the caseless ammunition had a tendency to “cook-off” because of the heat built up. Deployment of the 20mm anti-aircraft cannon proved difficult and was over complicated. By 1969 the MBT-70 project cost five times what it was projected at $1 million a unit. Originally planned cost of MBT-70 were as low as $80 million but in 1969 it had costed $303 million. West-Germany backed out of the project because alone their part was about $130 million which was more than originally planned. In the end the joint program was officially canceled and work began on a low-cost design only made with American parts. On June 30th, 1971 the program was officially deactivated and the redistributed budget was for a new XM1 project soon known was the M1 Abrams tanks.
